MACHINE INTELLIGENCE AND THE TURING TEST
Alan Turings most significant contribution was his work on breaking the German Enigma code during World War 2, which led to the development of the first programmable computer. Turing's design for this machine, known as the Universal Turing Machine, laid the groundwork for the modern digital computer. Turing also proposed the concept of machine learning and developed the idea of a "Turing test" to determine whether a machine can exhibit human-like intelligence.
"ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE"
The term "artificial intelligence" was coined in 1956 at a conference at Dartmouth College. The term was used to describe the goal of creating machines that could perform tasks typically requiring human intelligence, such as understanding language and solving problems.
