DIRECTOR - LUDWIG MIES VAN DER ROHE

Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe was recommended as director by Walter Gropius to follow Hannes Meyer. Because of political pressures, under Van de Rohe the curriculum became more focused on architecture, experimentation was discouraged, the workshops were reduced, and the preliminary course was eliminated. Because of the political pressures the duration of the studies was shortened and the tuition fees increased.
